Prepayment of Course Fees
1. All course fees must be received by Basic Firearms Training (hereinafter referred to as “BFT”) at the time of course registration. Course registration is not complete and a student’s seat is not reserved until full payment is received.
2. Students will still have the option to add additional courses (e.g., a non-resident CCW or BSIS course, etc. taken concurrently with their CA CCW or other course) at the time of their course. Payment for additional courses is accepted at the time of the addition.
Course Rescheduling
1. Students may reschedule all courses without additional fees 7 or more calendar days prior to the start of their course. Students who reschedule between 3 and 6 calendar days prior to the start of their course will be subject to a $25 rescheduling fee at the time of rescheduling.
2. In order for BFT to reasonably and efficiently track schedule changes, students may only reschedule their original course date one time. After one schedule change, students are subject to the refund policy below.
3. No reschedules will be made for students within 3 calendar days of the scheduled course start date or for those who fail to show up for all or part of their scheduled course.
4. Students who are dismissed from a course for unsafe or disruptive behavior will not be allowed to reschedule their course.
5. All course schedule changes must be made via email to registration@BasicFirearmsTraining.net
Refunds
Please note: BFT incurs credit card processing fees even if a customer is refunded for their course.
1. Full refunds, minus $10 or the credit card processing fees, whichever is greater, are provided for all courses when the student cancels their course 7 or more calendar days prior to the start of their scheduled course. Students who cancel their course between 3 and 6 calendar days prior to the start of their scheduled course will receive a 50% refund, minus $10 or the credit card processing fees, whichever is greater. No refunds will be provided for any cancellations within 3 days of the start of the course or for students who do not show up for all or part of their scheduled course.
2. All cancellations must be made via email to registration@basicfirearmstraining.net
3. No refunds will be provided for students who are unable to pass their course, including but not limited to, any written exams or shooting qualifications required by BFT or any local, state, or federal agency as a requirement to obtain a permit or license from that agency.
4. Occasionally, a course will only be held if a minimum enrollment number is met by a certain date prior to the start of the course. Any applicable minimum enrollments and enrollment dates will be listed on the course calendar and/or course confirmation email. In the event that the minimum enrollment is not met by the appropriate deadline, a full refund will be issued as soon as possible after the minimum enrollment deadline is reached. Credit card fees will not be subtracted from the refund amount.
5. If a course is cancelled by BFT, a full refund will be issued as soon as possible after the cancellation notice is sent to enrolled students. Credit card fees will not be subtracted from the refund amount.
6. No refund will be provided to any student who is dismissed from a course for unsafe or disruptive behavior.
Student’s Responsibilities
1. Students are responsible for adhering to all classroom policies, procedures, and safety protocols, provided either in writing or verbally by the BFT instructor(s).
2. Students are responsible for paying attention and participating so they successfully pass their course, including, but not limited to, any written exams or shooting qualifications required by BFT or any local, state, or federal agency as a condition of obtaining a permit or license from that agency.
3. Students are responsible for ensuring that they are not currently prohibited by state or federal law from possessing firearms and/or ammunition.
4. Before enrolling in a BFT CCW course, students are responsible for knowing and understanding their issuing agency’s CCW issuance policy, including, but not limited to, when in the CCW application process the student is to take the CCW training course. Reschedule and refund policies will apply if the student is not taking the course at the appropriate time. Generally, issuing agencies (Sheriff’s Offices, Police Departments, etc.) do not want applicants taking the CCW course until the agency has given the applicant the approval and/or directive to take the course, which is usually after an interview and background check.
5. Students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that does not disrupt the course / other students.
6. Students are responsible for notifying BFT as soon as possible if they need to change or cancel their course.
7. Be safe, have fun, and engage in the course dialogue, but don’t unreasonably delay the course from moving forward and concluding on time.
Unsafe and/or Disruptive Behavior
1. Safety is the first priority in any BFT course. Secondary is conducting courses in a manner where students are free to learn and participate without disruptive students interfering with their learning experience.
2. BFT instructor(s) may dismiss disruptive or disrespectful students from the course at any time with or without prior warnings. No refunds or reschedules will be provided to students who are dismissed from course for unsafe or disruptive behavior.
3. Students who are dismissed from a course will not be allowed to enroll in a future BFT course without the preapproval of the BFT instructor(s).
4. BFT reserves the right to require students who were dismissed from a course for unsafe behavior to successfully complete a basic firearms safety course or firearms safety skills assessment prior to allowing them to enroll / reenroll in more advanced BFT courses.
Class Remediation
1. Unless prohibited by local, state, or federal laws or regulations, students will be allowed to remediate written exams and shooting qualifications on the same day as their course as follows:
a. Written exams
i. Students who do not meet the passing score will be allowed to retake the written
exam 1 time during their originally scheduled course.
b. Shooting qualifications
i. Students who do not meet the minimum passing score will be allowed to reshoot
their course of fire up to 2 times (total of 3 attempts) during their originally
scheduled course.
2. Students are responsible for paying any additional firearms rental, ammunition or range fees that may arise in association with requalifying.
3. Students who are unable to pass their course after the allowed number of remediation attempts, will not be issued a certificate of completion or any other training documents associated with a particular course. No refunds will be issued to those who do not successfully complete their course, nor will the student be able to reschedule for a future course without paying the course registration fee again.
4. BFT reserves the right to require students to take a prerequisite course, such as a basic firearms course, prior to reenrolling in a course they did not successfully complete on a prior attempt.
