This 4-hour course is for new or prospective handgun owners or those with limited handgun shooting experience. The course consists of both classroom and range training. In this course, students will be introduced to handguns and will learn about the following topics:

• Firearms safety
• Firearms storage and transportation laws
• Types of handguns
• Handgun nomenclature and operation
• Ammunition
• Considerations for handgun selection
• Introduction to marksmanship fundamentals

Course fee includes:

• Range fee
• 2 targets

Firearm Rentals:

Firearm rentals are available from Basic Firearms Training for $15 each. If renting a firearm from Basic Firearms Training, please call or email to verify availability of firearms prior to registering for the class. If available, select your firearm rental choice on the course registration form.

Firearms available to rent from Basic Firearms Training include:

Glock 26 – 9mm
Glock 17 – 9mm
Ruger GP 100 – .38
Glock 22 – .40
S&W 4003TSW – .40
Glock 20 – 10mm

For courses conducted at The Gun Range, firearm rentals are available from the range. The cost to rent from the range is $20 per firearm.

For courses conducted at The Sacramento Valley Shooting Center, firearm rentals and ammunition will not be available from the range.

Note: No outside ammunition is allowed to be used in any firearm rentals from Basic Firearms Training or The Gun Range.

Ammunition:

Students will need approximately 50-100 rounds of ammunition. Actual usage will vary between classes.

When renting a firearm from Basic Firearms Training, you may either:

1. Purchase ammunition from Basic Firearms Training
   1. During course registration, or
   2. At the time of the class
2. Purchase factory new, brass cased ammunition from the range during the check in process.

As ammunition consumption varies between classes, it is recommended that you pay for ammunition during the class on an as needed basis.

When renting a firearm from The Gun Range, you must purchase ammunition from the range during the check in process.

The price for ammunition will be show on the course registration form and in the course confirmation email.

To complete this course, students must:

1. Be present for the entire course.
2. Not have any safety violations.

Upon completion of the course, students will receive a certificate of completion for their records.

What to bring to the class:

• Valid driver license or state issued ID
• Eye protection
• Ear protection
• Firearm with at least 2 magazines or speed loaders (unless renting a firearm)
• 50-100 rounds of ammunition (unless renting a firearm)
• Note taking materials
• Safe and positive attitude and an open mind
• Snacks / beverages

Please note that each class is different. Depending on the number of people in the class and other factors, we may complete the course material in less than 4 hours, or we may go over. Please allow yourself enough time to ensure you can stay in the event we go over time.
