This 4-hour Basic Handgun 2 course is designed for beginning shooters who have established a basic understanding of firearms safety, handgun nomenclature and semi-automatic handgun operation.

This course incorporates and builds upon the knowledge and skills learned in the Introduction to Handguns (Basic Handgun 1) course.

This course will continue the marksmanship fundamentals training from the Introduction to Handguns course and introduce students to drawing from an exposed holster, reloading, and clearing stoppages. This course is for semi-automatic pistols only.

Course topics include:

• Marksmanship fundamentals
• Drawing and holstering using an exposed holster
• Reloading
• Clearing stoppages (malfunctions)

Revolvers may not be used in this class as they operate a little differently than semi-automatic pistols. Most students have semi-automatic handguns, and the goal is to keep the class moving along efficiently.

Prerequisites:

• Understanding of firearms safety rules
• Ability to follow firearms safety rules at all times
• Basic knowledge of semi-automatic pistol nomenclature and operation

Course fee includes:

• Range fee
• Targets

To complete this course, students must:

1. Be present for the entire course.
2. Not have any safety violations.

Upon completion of the course, students will receive a certificate of completion for their records.

What to bring to the class:

• Valid Driver License or state issued ID
• Eye protection
• Ear protection
• Firearm with at least 3 magazines
• EXPOSED holster
  • No concealed holsters
  • No shoulder holsters
  • No cross draw holsters
  • No Serpa type holsters
  • Instructor(s) may inspect holsters to ensure they do not pose a safety hazard to the student or class
• Magazine pouch / holder
• 200-250 rounds of ammunition
• Note taking materials
• Safe and positive attitude and an open mind
• Snacks / beverages

Please note that each class is different. Depending on the number of people in the class and other factors, we may complete the course material in less than 4 hours, or we may go over a little bit. Please allow yourself enough time to ensure you can stay in the event we go over time.
