BSIS Appropriate Use of Force Course Overview
This 5-hour course covers Part B of the BSIS Power to Arrest and Appropriate Use of Force course.
The Power to Arrest & Appropriate Use of Force course has two parts – Power to Arrest (Part A) and Appropriate Use of Force (Part B). The complete Power to Arrest & Appropriate Use of Force course is 8 hours.
BSIS allows Part A to be completed online; however, Part B must be completed in-person.
This course is for those who have already completed Part A online with Basic Firearms Training. This course will be held in Sacramento County.
To complete Part B, students must:
- Be present for the entire course.
- Pass a written exam (covers material from Parts A and B).
- The exam is open-book, and the passing score is 100%.
- If a student fails, they may view their incorrect answers, review the course material, and answer the questions again.
What to bring to class:
- State issued Driver License or ID card
- Note taking materials
- Safe and positive attitude and an open mind
- Snacks / beverages / lunch
Important notes:
- BSIS does not accept more than one certificate of completion for the course (e.g. separate instructors / training facilities signing off on each part of the course)
- BSIS strongly recommends that applicants complete both parts with the same instructor / training facility.
- Basic Firearms Training will only issue a certificate of completion to those who complete both Parts A and B with Basic Firearms Training (online and/or in-person).
